Slight delay in our advance this morning – went to collect our hire car at the booked time of 08:30 and they said it was still on its way and then needed to be cleaned – “can you come back in 1 hour ?”
So I have been for a walk to Checkpoint Charlie again to get a couple more photos and we are in the hotel lobby again !
Last night when we were here I overheard the attendant at the desk give someone directions to an italian restaurant around the corner – basically at the back of the hotel. So we decided to give it a go. Turned out very nice. We sat outside – all the restaurants have a lot of outdoor seating and they provide blankets for the cold – and the waiter had very good english – he reminded me a bit of Basil Fawlty – the mannerisms without the attitude ! (We didn’t mention the war !)
The streets are a lot busier this morning – we seem to be in a bit of a business area so everyone is on their way to work. All the buildings appear to be designed and built to have an open courtyard area in the middle of them so it would be a very pleasant working envirnoment.
Well, let’s see if the car is ready this time…………
