Orlando, FL – Disney World Interruption ! – Mile Marker 697

Today dawned as most so far and the rest of the day has pretty much been like every other weather-wise – hot, sunny and muggy in the morning, then thunderstorms come through mid afternoon and still muggy, then generally overcast or showers to finish the day – though we are getting a bit of watery sun at the moment.

We had an early start today as we had to be at Hollywood Studios for “gates open”.  So we took advantage of  “the Lounge” to have a quick breakfast then head off on the short drive to that park.  Unfortunately we forgot our “Happy Anniversary” badges today (phew!).
There were a few queues but we were pretty close to the front.  The gates opened and we went straight to “Toy Story Mania” – probably the most popular ride in this park. We did that then got a “Fastpass” which allows you to go back at a specified time and basically jump the queue. On the popular rides these run out very quickly. We then split up and Liam headed to “Star Tours” whilst Adrienne and I did the “Rockin’ Rollercoaster with Aerosmith”. This was really very good and we did it twice as the queue was quite short.

We then joined up with Liam again and we all did Star Tours.  We wandered around again and did a few more rides then headed back to the Beach Club to take advantage of the sunshine and have a swim.  The pool area is extensive – we had some lunch here also – then Adrienne and I had a swim while Liam went to the game arcade to get a fix.

We were in the pool for about half an hour or so when the storm clouds started to arrive. Liam had really only just got in the pool and he and I headed around to the big slide which is part of the pool complex. There had been a few small rumbles of thunder so we know it wouldn’t be long before they closed the pool. We got to the top of the slide and I went down.  When I got to the bottom there was a lot of activity with the cast members moving people out of the pool area – there had apparently been a big clap of thunder as I went down the shoot of the slide.  This immediately closed the pool and poor Liam wasn’t allowed on the slide and had to walk all the way down again.  It wasn’t long before the rain came and we headed back to the room.

We have used the rain as a chance to catch up on our blogs and emails. We have also been indulging from the Lounge with cookies (with Mickey sprinkles on them of course !) and coffee and soft drinks.  Its actually starting to show a little sun outside so we are heading into the park right next door to us  – Epcot – where we have dinner reservations at “Le Chefs de France” for dinner. And hopefully no more rain.

We have “Extra Magic Hours” this evening so again we get to stay after the plebs have to leave.
Did I mention that these “real Disney” people take all things Disney vary seriously ?
Well tomorrow we have to leave this fantasyland and get back to normality as we head to our first new state – Georgia – and our next stop Savannah.  It will be quite a drive so looks like an early start !
Until next time……
