The Other Anderson “Grand Tour”

Not long to go now !!
And I must say that Adrienne has excelled herself with her planning ! If the actual trip is only a quarter as good as her plans, it will still be absolutely fantastic !!
We already have detailed touring plans for each day with plenty of options – it would put to shame many guidebooks !
We will have plenty to fill our blogs with that’s for sure.

And although he won’t be with us this time, Liam has his own “grand tour” to look forward to at the same time – I think he is getting a bit excited, not that he is showing it much though. I am sure he is still relying on Mum to get him organised as there doesn’t seem to be a lot of planning so far !

I am not sure if he will be keeping his blog or whether he will have time – they have a pretty full schedule. So here are his tour details and anything you get from him while he is away will be a bonus. ( Liam’s Blog – Travelling Tangents )

We are pretty sure that Liam’s group will be on the same flight as us to Dubai (but hopefully down the back !).
While we head to Rome, they have a longer stopover in Dubai before they fly to Istanbul to get a connecting flight to Izmir in the south where their tour begins.
While in Izmir they visit the ancient city of Ephesus.
They then head north visiting Pergamum and Homer’s Troy stopping in Canakkale overnight.  The next day they head to Istanbul and will be going by ferry across to Gallipoli on the way.
(Must say I’m a bit jealous !)
They then finish Turkey with a couple of nights in Istanbul.

Greece ItalyGreece & Italy

From Istanbul they fly to Athens and have a couple of days there visiting the ancient sites such as the Acropolis.
Then they head to the seaside town of Tolo before ending up on the west coast at Pylos.
The final day in Greece they head north to the port of Patra where they catch an overnight fast ferry to the Italian port of Bari.
From Bari they head across country to Sorrento, visiting Herculaneum on the way, and have 2 nights there. From here they will have a full day visiting Pompeii.
Finally it is on to Rome for their last days before heading home.

So there looks like there will be plenty to keep him busy and he will be covering a lot of territory none of us have covered before.
There is a meeting at school this week when we should get all the final plans and instructions for his trip.

Adrienne will have her final itinerary website ready soon and I will forward all our various news and photo “links” before we leave. What would we do without the internet !
Next blog we will be on our way !!
