Well we have made it to Dubai – the airport anyway.
Adrienne and I are sitting in a lounge we were able to get access to from my American Express membership so it gives us a bit of time to freshen up before our flight to Rome in a couple of hours.
It is 6.30am (12.30pm your time) and they are serving breakfast.
We are only having juice and coffee and sitting a bit more comfortably than we have the last 14 hours. The lounge is pretty busy with people coming and going. Dubai is a big airport – we had to get on a train to take us from where we landed to the terminal for our Rome flight.
Liam has now gone his separate way. They have a longer stop here and are going to an airport hotel until their flight later in the afternoon. We didn’t see much of him on the plane – they were “down the back” but Adrienne saw him when she went for a walk at one stage.
Getting to the airport was a bit frantic – Adrienne had had “one of those days” and was late getting to Simon for him to drive us – but we made it on time. After we left Liam with his group, Simon stayed to have some dinner with us before we went through customs to wait for the plane.
The flight itself was okay – long as usual but the food was ok. We have decided that going to the US you get lots of young kids but going to Europe you seem to get lots of babies. Last trip we had 4 babies who took it in turns to keep everyone awake the whole trip – this time there was 1 who did it all by itself !!##$@$.
Anyway it won’t be long before we are off to our proper destination. As I write Adrienne has relented and come back to the table with a selection of little cakes to try ! Oh well we are on holidays after all !
