Retreating to Blackwattle

It has been 2 months since we had this Quick Tour, however with Xmas over and the house empty, we decided to treat ourselves to a couple of lazy days in the Hunter Valley to start 2017.

And we found Blackwattle Luxury Retreats at Lovedale, “in the heart of the Hunter Valley Wine Country”.

Blackwattle is a working vineyard on 28 acres and has two cabins on the property. The owners house is just off the road and the property slopes away from the road with  the two cabins well separated down the slope.  There are fantastic valley views across their own vineyard and the neighboring vineyards and mountains (the Brokenback Ranges) in the distance – a really relaxing spot. We had the little “Sunset Retreat” a well appointed self-contained cabin, nice kitchen, a wood heater (for winter – we certainly didn’t need it !) and spa with a view, a deck with table, chairs and BBQ. The louvres on all the windows allowed a beautiful cross breeze, even on the very hot days (though there is air conditioning if needed). As we usually do for our few days away, we stopped on the way, at Tuggerah, and stocked up with a selection of goodies to eat and drink during our stay.

Other than a bit of a drive to Hunter Valley Gardens and Pokolbin Village, we really did just take it easy – testing out some of our “gadgets” for our tour in May, reading, eating, drinking and taking in the lovely views.
