This quick tour fitted in nicely to celebrate Adrienne’s birthday.
The Anchorage Hotel at Port Stephens is just 2 and a half hours away and after recent major renovations it’s said “you can’t help notice it’s uncanny resemblance to The Hamptons — the picture-perfect seaside community on Long Island’s east end in the USA — thanks to its idyllic waterside setting, crisp white Shingle-style façade and umbrella-framed pool“.
Well, knowing our love of the USA, what could sound better !!
And it’s very nice indeed ! As well as the resort facilities – the excellent food and breakfasts in The Galley Kitchen overlooking the marina and a quiet drink (or two ! ) – our tour took in a walk around the nearby headland at the back of the resort and a stroll along the adjoining beachfront. A walk out along the breakwaters around the marina also provides a great view back toward the resort.
Our Loft Suite was just stunning with double French doors that open up to sparkling water views from the upstairs mezzanine and downstairs balcony – across the marina and the bay beyond – another nice spot for a quiet beverage 🍾🥂 !
We also took in some of the sights around nearby Nelson Bay – Maverick’s Bar on the waterfront was a great spot for lunch and drinks – Fingal Bay, Shoal Bay and Tomaree National Park. There would be no shortage of places to explore further on another visit !
Here’s a taste …
